The first deletion extends from +303 to +667 relative to the vg transcription start site (this includes part of the proximal Polycomb response element). The second deletion extends from +19614 to +20640 relative to the vg transcription start site (this includes the distal Polycomb response element).

      vgDJ1R22 homozygotes have vestigial wings. vgDJ1R22 in transheterozygosity with Df(2R)Exel8056, Df(2R)vg-D, vg13A, vgCL1, vgCL2C, or vgnw leads to wing defects, while vgDJ1R22 in transheterozygosity with vgCZ or vgR5 does not.
