      vihΔN-4/vihΔN-4 females lay fewer eggs than control females, but only when mated to vihΔN-4/vihΔN-4 males, but not control males. In homozygotes and heterozygotes, egg chambers show structural abnormalities as early as oogenesis stage 3, including the plasma membrane collapsing and forming large aggregates in the centre of the egg chamber.
