Exons 2-6 of the endogenous cno locus have been deleted (the deletion starts in the first intron 605bp upstream of the translation start site in the second exon and ends 1398bp downstream of exon 6), and replaced by a sequence cassette that contains: 1. an attP site, 2. a loxP cassette containing a Disc\RFPDsRed(T1).3xP3.cHa marker. This allele produces wild-type levels of a truncated cno protein of approximately 200kD, probably due to aberrant splicing joining exon 1 to 7 and use of an alternative Met residue as a start codon (the first Met in exon 7 is at amino acid 340). The protein produced lacks Ras-association (RA) domain 1 and most of RA2 (as this sequence is removed by the deletion).
