Description
Description
Glutathione transferases (glutathione S-transferases, GST) catalyze nucleophilic attack by reduced glutathione on non-polar compounds that contain an electrophilic carbon, nitrogen, or sulfur atom. They have roles in detoxifying xenobiotics and metabolites and in biosynthetic processes. In D. melanogaster, they are divided into two nonhomologous families: the microsomal GSTs and the canonical GSTs that are cytosolic. (Adapted from FBrf0202224 and PMID:15822171.)
Notes on Group

GstD3 and GstT4 are excluded from this group because they display no glutathione transferase activity for any substrate tested (FBrf0217315).
