Description
Skp1 is a component of the Skp, Cullin, F-box (SCF)-containing ubiquitin ligase complexes. It acts as an adaptor binding cullin 1 and an F box protein. In D.mel, six Skp1 homologous have been identified, but only SkpA has been characterised as part of an SCF complex. (Adapted from FBrf0159039 and FBrf0217546).
Notes on Group

The genes EloC and CG43089 (FBrf0225318) and CG15800 (FBrf0217546) have not been included in the SKP1 GENE FAMILY group. SkpB-E show good sequence homology (E-values of <2e-40) with SkpA. CG15800 shares less homology with SkpA (E-value of 1e-10) and EloC and CG43089 have lower homology scores. EloC has Skp1-like properties and can serve as an adaptor in other cullin ubiquitin ligase complexes.
