Description
Description
Chloride channels (CLC) are transmembrane channels that predominantly conduct Cl-. Many CLCs are permeable to other anions, but mainly conduct Cl- due to the higher concentration gradient. They are fundamental to many physiological processes such as neurotransmission, skeletal muscle contraction and volume homeostasis. (Adapted from PMID:26254230 and FBrf0232136).
