Ms protein is expressed in one cell in the posterior protocerebrum that innervated several neuropils. Innervation of the antennal lobe is sparse, and seemed to be extraglomerular. The innervation in the antennal lobe is similar but more extensive than the one from Nplp1-positive neurons.
Ms protein is detected in each brain lobe in a medial protocerebral neuron, that extends processes along the midline of the ventral nerve cord to the abdominal ganglia; in a superior protocerebral neuron that extends immunoreactive processes into the medial protocerebrum; and in another superior protocerebral neuron with no immunoreactive processes. Ms immunoreactively is also observed in the cell bodies of one cell per thoracic neuromere.
