Removal of 19 amino acids from the from the cytoplasmic portion of ft (aa 4965-4984) weakens but does not abolish biding to dco. Mutation of conserved residues within this region (AAGG or KAEG) does not block ft interaction with dco.

A ft construct ommiting the extracellular domain of ft was used for this experiment, the construct exludes aa 138-4568 of the protein.
