1) l(2)35Be = CG4140.
The evidence for this is:
(i) CPTI-000130 is inserted in CG4140 and does not complement the lethality of l(2)35Be4 (see www.flyprot.org)
(ii) by deletion mapping l(2)35Be and l(2)35Bc map to the dyn-p25 - l(2)35Bd interval; l(2)35Be maps to the left of l(2)35Bc.  There are 3 genes in this interval - CG4140, NC2beta and CG4103.  Candidates for l(2)35Be are therefore CG4140 and NC2beta.
(iii) Two l(2)35Be alleles (2 and 4) have point mutations in CG4140, but not in NC2beta.
2) l(2)35Bc = CG4103.
The evidence for this is:
(i) by deletion mapping l(2)35Be and l(2)35Bc map to the dyn-p25 - l(2)35Bd interval; l(2)35Be maps to the left of l(2)35Bc.  There are 3 genes in this interval - CG4140, NC2beta and CG4103.  Candidates for l(2)35Bc are therefore NC2beta and CG4103.
(ii) Two l(2)35Bc alleles (4 and 6) have premature stop codons in CG4103, but not in NC2beta.
