The Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center reports that the balancer in BDSC stock #5822 (FBst0005822, RRID:BDSC_5822) carrying a P{UAS-shi.K44A}insertion is not TM3 as originally thought. The stock is e, Tb, Hu and Ubx. Crosses to w¹¹¹⁸ reveal that the mini-w+ eye color associated with P{UAS-shi.K44A} segregates away from Hu and with Ubx indicating that the insertion is on a balancer carrying a dominant Ubx allele. The lack of a Hn^P phenotype (Hn^P is on TM6) indicates the balancer is TM2.
