A set of mutant stocks derived by insertional mutagenesis using the P-element construct P{PZ}; most lines have a lethal or sterile phenotype. The P{PZ} construct carries a ry[+] visible marker, Ecol\lacZ enhancer trap sequences, and bacterial sequences that allow plasmid rescue.
Deficiency complementation analysis is consistent with the lethality of the line being associated with the insertion. However, since the insertion lies within multiple genes (CG30493 and CG30496), the lethality can not yet be conclusively mapped to a single gene from these results. Thus l(2)0849208492 (representing the lethality of the chromosome) has been kept as a separate allele in FlyBase for now.
