pMagHigh1::FlpC28 consists of a C-terminal fragment of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae FLP recombinase (starts at amino acid 28), tagged at the N-terminal end with 'pMagHigh1', a positively charged engineered domain that can heterodimerize with a compatible negatively charged 'nMag'-type domain upon stimulation with blue light (for details of pMagHigh1 see PMID:25708714). pMagHigh1::FlpC28 forms one half of a photo-inducible split-FLP recombinase system: when combined in vivo with a complementary split-FLP fragment fused to a compatible nMag-type domain (such as FlpN27::nMagHigh1) and exposed to blue light, the light-induced interaction between the nMag/pMag pair can reconstitute a functional FLP recombinase (PMID:30659191, PMID:31649244).
