ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2 drives expression in all labellar I sensilla, but it does not reflect the normal expression of the Gr2a gene.
ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2 drives expression in a single pair of L2 GRNs in the adult labral sense organ that are maintained during the transition from larva (where they are known as gustatory receptor neurons of the epiphysis) to adult. These neurons send axonal projections in an umbrella like pattern to the left and right dorsal regions of the subesophageal zone and co-express (in separate experiments) ScerGAL4Gr23a.3.5, ScerGAL4Gr57a.6, and ScerGAL4Gr93d.2.4.
ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2 drives expression in larval gustatory receptor neuron of the epiphysis DP3 where it is coexpressed with ScerGAL4Gr23a.3.5, ScerGAL4Gr57a.6, and ScerGAL4Gr93d.2.4.
ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2 drives expression in 2 gustatory receptor neurons of the larval dorsal organ. These two neurons also express ScerGAL4Gr28a.PT. Expression of ScerGAL4Gr2a.2.2 is also detected in 2 gustatory receptor neurons of the terminal organ and in one neuron of the dorsal pharyngeal sense organ (DPS or epiphysis).
