Description

slp1 sequences from 8.7 to 6.5kb and from 3.9 to 1.8kb upstream of the slp1 promoter followed by a basal promoter segment that spans from 260bp upstream to 121bp downstream of the slp1 transcription start site is fused upstream of Ecol\lacZ.

A composite of the slp1 distal early stripe element (DESE) enhancer fragment (-8710 to -6506bp) and the slp1 proximal early stripe element (PESE) enhancer fragment (-3.9 to -1.8kb) fused to basal slp1 promoter sequences from -261 to +121bp drives expression of lacZ (all slp1 coordinates relative to the slp1 transcription start site).

The slp1 reporter recapitulates the slp1 expression pattern in the segmented part of the embryo at the gastrula stage. The only difference is the lack of a stripe of expression in the anterior head region.
