Long term memory appears to be abolished, but anesthesia-resistant memory is normal in flies expressing Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU after heat shock.

1 day memory is impaired after spaced training, but not after massed training in an olfactory associative conditioning assay in flies expressing Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4Feb170. 3 hour memory after one session of training is normal in these flies.

1 day memory after spaced or massed training in an olfactory associative conditioning assay is not affected in flies expressing Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107. 3 hour anesthesia-sensitive memory is impaired in these flies compared to controls.

1 day memory is impaired after spaced training, but not after massed training in an olfactory associative conditioning assay in flies co-expressing Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa and Nmdar2dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4G0431. The defect in memory after spaced training is still seen if the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele is used to restrict Scer\GAL4 expression to the adult stage.

Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa expression in either the Scer\GAL4GH146 or Scer\GAL4VPN subset of neurons expressing TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa causes an odorant-selective block in projection neuron-induced habituation. Thus, while 30 minutes of exposure to 29[o]C reduces the CO[[2]] avoidance of Scer\GAL4VPN>TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa flies, it has no effect on the CO[[2]] avoidance of Scer\GAL4VPN/+; TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa/+; Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa flies. Similarly, the reduced ethyl butyrate avoidance of Scer\GAL4GH146/+; TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa/+ flies observed after heat exposure is not evident in Scer\GAL4GH146/+; TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa/Nmdar1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cWa flies.
