Comments

The breakpoints of the deletion ( 2L:16376738 and 2L:16638995 ) are not ligated together, but are separated by a 320bp sequence. portions of this 320bp sequence map in small blocks to multiple chromosomes making it difficult to infer the origin of the inserted sequence.

Comments on Cytology

Small deletion that removes the major band at 36A, and encompassing the entire dac locus.

Df(2L)dac-4 heterozygotes do not exhibit any size alterations or roughness in eyes when compared to control adults.

The number of SE2 neurons is normal in Df(2L)dac-4 mutant animals.

In Df(2L)dac-4 mutants the neuropils of the mushroom bodies are disrupted. Occasionally ectopic projections of peduncles are observed.

In 10% of larvae the dorsal lobes of the mushroom body are unilaterally reduced in diameter. The dorsal lobe can be unusually slanted and various regions of the mushroom body neuropile are widened.

Mutant clones in the eye disc that do not include the posterior margin give rise to ommatidia. Posterior clones fail to develop into retinal tissue. Dominantly enhances the mutant eye phenotye of hhbar3.
