medulla & axon (with βTub60D1)
photoreceptor cell R7 & axon (with βTub60D1)
photoreceptor cell R8 & axon (with βTub60D1)
rhabdomere (with βTub60D1)
In βTub60D1/βTub60D4 brains, there are defects in axonal targeting, spatial positioning and morphology of βTub60D expressing structures in the eye, optic lobe. Mistargeting of R7, 8 and other axons is seen, these axons are also mispositioned within the optic lobe, in a lobe autonomous fashion. Other axons in the optic are affected in this manner. The morphology of the medulla is also abnormal. The lamina exhibit some degree of disorganisation. βTub60D1/βTub60D4 brains exhibit defects in the spatial positioning of the R7,8 axon array. In the adult eye of βTub60D1/βTub60D4 flies, individual rhabdomeres are sometimes missing or defective.
Transheterozygotes with βTub60D1, βTub60D10, βTub60Dsk and βTub60DP126 are viable but sterile.
weak hypomorph
Mutants rescued by βTub60Dβ3 are flightless.
Allelic series: Effect on viability: βTub60D2 > βTub60D3 > βTub60D4 > βTub60D1 > βTub60D5. Effect on fertility: βTub60D3 > βTub60D2 > βTub60D4 > βTub60D1 > βTub60D5.
Allelic series of mutations: βTub60D2 > βTub60D3 > βTub60D10 > βTub60D9 = βTub60D6 > βTub60D8 = βTub60D7 > βTub60Dsk > βTub60D11 > βTub60D5 > βTub60D1 > βTub60D4 > βTub60DP126.
