    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

All denticle belts of embryos derived from a esc2/esc5 stock are rectangular in shape, indicating a transformation to the eighth abdominal segment. Midgut constrictions are partial or not formed in these embryos.

Does not affect the position effect variegation (PEV) at the w locus caused by In(1)wm4 or PEV at the B locus caused by Dp(1;Y)BSCV.

    Lack midgut constrictions.

Less than 10% of esc5/Dp(2;2)GYL animals (having two copies of paternally derived zygotic esc function, but no maternal esc function) survive past the third larval instar stage.

The expression of Antp, Scr and Ubx protein in esc- mutants has been studied.

Ubx, Scr and Antp, protein expression has been studied in esc2/esc5 embryos lacking both maternal and zygotic esc function, and in esc5/Dp(2;2)GYL embryos lacking maternal but having two copies of paternally derived zygotic esc function.
