A 2bp insertion that causes a frameshift mutation after amino acid 144 of the upd1 protein.
2bp insertion at codon 143.
2bp insertion causing a frameshift mutation in the open reading frame.
A 2bp insertion (AG) causing a frameshift mutation in the upd1 open reading frame.

upd1YC43 mutants show premature differentiation to P1+ plasmatocytes.
upd1YC43 embryos show defects in the following segments (penetrance levels are shown in brackets): T2 (56%), A4 (52%), A5 (78%), A6 (7%), A7 (4%) and A8 (26%).
The proventriculus development is normal in early stages of proventriculus development in mutants. However in the keyhole stage, the anterior boundary cells fail to move inward into the endodermal keyhole domain and arrest anterior to the proventricular endoderm until late stages of embryonic development. Furthermore, the endodermal cell layer of the keyhole is disorganised and the proventriculus is collapsed.
The enlarged eye phenotype seen in flies carrying one copy of upd1GMR.PB is not modified if the flies are also carrying upd1YC43.
Defect in the fourth and fifth abdominal denticle belt. This does not produce embryonic lethality as mutant larvae, pupae and sometimes adult can develop lacking the abdominal region. T2, T3 and A8 are sometimes deleted, the head is usually involuted but most head structures are present. Germline clone analysis of os alleles of the upd complementation group indicate they are not required for germline viabilty and do not have a maternal effect.
Interacts with RpII140wimp maternal effect.
embryonic lethal Mutants show variable larval cuticular phenotype with defects predominantly in the mesothorax and the fifth abdominal segment (Nusslein-Volhard et al., 1984; Gergen and Wieschaus, 1986); also some head defects and fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth abdominal segment defects. Heterozygotes show 88-93% viability (Wieschaus and Noell, 1986). T2, A5, A8 denticle belts deleted; A6 and A7 denticle belts fused; abnormal posterior spiracles
upd1YC43/os[+] is an enhancer of egg chamber phenotype of hop27/hop25
