    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

paraST109/Df(1)D34 flies do not show a significantly shortened lifespan. However, the brains of these flies show neurodegeneration.

Viability of double mutant males with mlenap-ts1 is significantly reduced, even at permissive temperatures, though it is possible to maintain a double mutant stock. Double mutant males at 25oC die at or near eclosion.

    Reversible heat induced paralysis.

    Reference

The short lived phenotype of AtpαDTS1 heterozygotes is enhanced in paraST109/+ flies. paraST109; AtpαDTS2 double mutants also have a short lifespan of <1 week.

Results from response to cervical stimulation, intracellular recordings of flight muscles and direct excitability of muscle demonstrate the threshold for excitability of a cervical pathway rises at temperatures a few degrees higher than the paralysis temperature while nerve conduction velocity and muscle excitability are still normal.
