Breakpoint is 7 kb 3' of the sc transcribed region.
kb 25.8 to 24.0; (Carramolino, Ruiz-Gomez, Guerrero, Campuzano, and Modolell (1982) and Campuzano, Carramolino, Cabrera, Ruiz-Gomez, Villares, Boronat and Modolell (1985). 0 defined as the more distal EcoRI site within the scS2 molecular deficiency; positive values extend to the left.)
More than 90% of flies lack the anterior orbital, anterior notopleural, humeral, postvertical, ocellar, presutural, anterior postalar, anterior supraalar, scutellar and posterior postalar bristles. More than 10% of flies lack the posterior supraalar bristles.
Anterior notopleural macrochaetae are removed.
Levels of sc protein are much lower than wild type, accumulation in clusters is still detectable. The PNP, APA and PSA notum macrochaetae are present.
The number of bractless bristles on the basitarsi of the second legs is reduced. A number of bristles with split shafts are seen.
The sc4d campaniform sensilla are missing in 90-100% of hemizygous flies.
Lacks most of the notum macrochaetae. sc RNA was much less abundant than wild type.
The presence of an X-chromosome carrying the In(1)sc4 inversion in abo mothers produces an enhancement of the abo maternal effect. A zygotic effect is also seen resulting in the lethality of the progeny homozygous for abo and In(1)sc4. Authors imply that effect is due to the proximal breakpoint in In(1)sc4 affecting the function of the ABO-X locus.
Extreme scute. Bristles of head, except anterior verticals, absent. Only posterior notopleurals and alars remain on sides of mesothorax; abdominals, ventrals, coxals, and scutellars also missing. Slight variegation for Hw. RK1A.
