Detailed Description

whd1 homozygous lymph gland primary lobes have abundant Dome[+] progenitors but drastically reduced number of differentiated hemocytes (plasmatocytes and crystal cells), and Intermediate progenitors (Dome[+] Pxn[+]). They exhibit an increase in proliferation of hemocyte progenitors in the lymph gland primary lobe.

whd1 homozygotes show increased mortality when exposed to 7% ethanol during development compared to controls.

Mutant flies show significantly increased survival compared to wild-type flies after infection with E. chaffeensis. Bacterial replication is significantly reduced in the mutant flies compared to wild type.

Homozygotes are highly sensitive to both ionizing radiation and dietary paraquat compared to controls.

Homozygotes have a weak mutant wing phenotype.

Mutants show no significant difference in longevity compared to control flies.

Wings warped and waved or reduced to shrunken black pupal pads. Synthetic lethal in presence of su(r). RK2.
