Germ-line clones of this mutant often produce miniature eggs with greatly reduced surface volumes.

No obvious morphological defects.

Transheterozygote combinations with other syt alleles are lethal.

This allele isolated by local hopping of P element in P{w+,lacZ}B8 (at most 10kb from 3' end of syt transcript) into syt, and detected with PCR. Precise excision of element in sytT77 reverts lethality. A few adults survive in transheterozygous combinations between sytT11, sytT77 and syt66.4.

Mutant phenotype can be rescued, when homozygous or in trans to sytN6, by sytelav.PD.
