Expression of dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in temperature-dependent defects in palpi. At 28oC, pseudotracheal regions are almost completely eliminated and putative dorsal bristles are increased. The morphology of the mediproboscis appears almost normal.

Mothers that express dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4CY2 produce eggs that in 80% of cases have eggshells with enlarged opercula and reduced dorsal appendages. When dppScer\UAS.cRa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4T155 76% of eggshells have enlarged opercula and reduced or malformed dorsal appendages, although these phenotypes are weaker than those observed with the Scer\GAL4CY2 driver. Expression of dppScer\UAS.cRa driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PH, following a heat shock, causes 38% of eggshells to display variable phenotypes, including ventralized or fused dorsal appendages and ectopic dorsal appendage material. When no heat shock is applied 29% of eggshells have ectopic dorsal appendage material deposited at the base and often display short or malformed dorsal appendages. When dppScer\UAS.cRa expression is driven by Scer\GAL4e22c 17% of eggshells exhibit ramified, fused or expanded dorsal appendages. The ovarioles of females that express dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4hs.PH or Scer\GAL4e22c exhibit abnormal germaria, two complete cysts encapsulated within a single follicular epithelium, mislocalized oocytes and lack of interfollicular stalks between adjacent follicles.

Tracheal cells fail to migrate anteriorly and instead more cells migrate dorsally in embryos expressing dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS.

Expression driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS in a wild type background produces an extra fusion cell per tracheal branch.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS a dorsal tracheal migration phenotype is observed with a lack of anterio-posterior branch formation.

Scer\GAL4hs.2sev- and Scer\GAL4btl.PS-mediated expression during stage 11 inhibits subsequent development of all anteriorly growing branches. By stage 17 many cells have moved to the dorsal side of the embryo such that dorsal branches (consisting of 5 to 7 cells in wild type embryos) consist of 25 cells.

slmbScer\UAS.cGa overexpression suppresses the expanded operculum phenotype of eggs laid by females overexpressing dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4CY2.

The small eye phenotype of upd1unspecified/Df(1)os1A2 flies is partly suppressed by expression of dppScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH.

Expression driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS in a Nl1N-ts1 background further increases the number of fusion cells.

Defects in tracheal cell migration caused by ectopic dpp expression in early embryonic stages are totally suppressed in put and tkv mutants.
