Larvae expressing svpScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4so-7.GAL4 show no change in the overall number of photoreceptors in the Bolwig's organ.
Early born cells in the NB7-1 and NB7-3 lineages are missing from 30-40% of abdominal hemisegments in svpScer\UAS.cKa; Scer\GAL4en-e16E embryos at stage 15. In 16% of hemisegments in these embryos, the entire NB 7-3 lineage is missing. In contrast, normal numbers of cells in both of these lineages develop in svpScer\UAS.cKa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155 embryos.
Expression of svpScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in dorsal closure defects.
When svpScer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, or Scer\GAL4Alk.6.5 adults are viable and fertile. When driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1, adults are also viable and fertile with no detectable defects. When svpScer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 animals die as embryos. When driven by Scer\GAL4h-1J3 animals die as first instar larvae. When svpScer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, animals are viable and fertile but have rough eyes, with moderate ommatidial disorganisation.
All of the ommatidia in flies expressing svpScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 lack R7 and R8 photoreceptor cells.
svpScer\UAS.cKa/Scer\GAL4sca-T3 individuals die as embryos or larvae. Adult escapers show mild roughening of the eye due to lack of photoreceptor R7.
Scer\GAL4sca-537.4, svpUAS.cKa has photoreceptor cell R7 phenotype, suppressible by Ras85DV12.sev, Scer\GAL4sca-537.4
The formation of R7 cells is rescued in flies expressing svpScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 by expression of Ras85DV12.sev.
