The ovarioles are poorly developed and atrophied in th⁸/th^6B females.

91% of th^6B/th⁸ females fail to lay eggs. Females have severely stunted and irregularly shaped ovaries that appear atrophied. Most egg chambers exhibit overtly degenerative phenotypes.

The Nc^I24/Nc^L32 combination partially suppresses the ovarian atrophy phenotype seen in th⁸/th^6B mutants; the egg chamber is significantly enlarged compared to the th⁸/th^6B mutant.

The addition of Ark^CD4/Ark^CD4 or Ark^CD4/+ to suppresses the sterility of th^6B/th⁸ females, leading to 47% and 69% of females laying eggs respectively.
