Expression of CorpEY03495 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF suppresses the increased cell death and reduced eye phenotypes caused by expression of rprGMR.PH.

Expression of either AckScer\UAS.cSb or AckK156A.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU suppresses the reduced eye size caused by rprGMR.PH.

Ack86/+ flies expressing rprGMR.PH fail to eclose. The pharate adults have eyes that are partially ablated. The ablated eye area is replaced by a hole in the head cuticle where eye tissue would normally reside and the optic lobe region of the brain is visible. The few female adult escapers (no male escapers are seen) have an eye that is slightly reduced in size compared to flies expressing rprGMR.PH in a wild-type background.

rprGMR.PH flies expressing AckGD8506 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU fail to eclose. The pharate adults show complete ablation of the eye. The ablated eye area is replaced by a hole in the head cuticle where eye tissue would normally reside and the optic lobe region of the brain is visible, and sometimes protrudes outside of the head.

A rprGMR.PH mutant background enhances the moderately rough eye phenotype observed upon expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev.

Iap2E151 has little if any effect on the eye phenotype caused by rprGMR.PH.

Df(2L)TW161, l(2)38Ea36, l(2)38Ea46, and l(2)38Ea66 all suppress the eye ablation phenotype of flies that express rprGMR.PH. l(2)38Eb54 fails to suppress this phenotype.

The small eye phenotype exhibited by flies expressing rprGMR.PH is suppressed in a IceΔ1 homozygous background.

The rough, small eye phenotype of rprGMR.PH is partially suppressed by Nc11/+, Nc51/+ or Nc30/+.

Eye size is largely restored by co-expression of banEP3622 (driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF) with rprGMR.PH. The addition of Df(3L)banΔ1 to rprGMR.PH animals leads to a minor enhancement of the eye phenotype.

About 90% of rprGMR.PH, mir-14k10213 or rprGMR.PH, mir-14Δ1 animals die as pupae, those that survive show an enhanced small eye phenotype. The addition of mir-14+t3.4 to rprGMR.PH animals suppresses the small eye phenotype in a dose dependant manner.

When thGMR.PH is added to rprGMR.PH animals the eye phenotype is almost completely suppressed.

Heterozygosity for nmoadk2 partially suppresses the small eye size of rprGMR.PH animals.

When one of BruceGMREP-86a-1, BruceGMREP-86a-2, BruceGMREP-86a-3, BruceGMREP-86a-4 or BruceGMREP-86a-5 is added to rprGMR.PH, its cell death phenotype in the eye is suppressed. The addition of jumuEP739, jumu06142a, jumu06439, l(3)j8B6j8B6 or P{EP}stich1EP359 has no effect. When both BruceGMR.dsRNA and BruceGMREP-86a-1 are added to rprGMR.PH only a partial suppression of the cell death phenotype in the eye is seen. The addition of BruceE16 or BruceE12 enhances the cell death phenotype in the eye seen in rprGMR.PH animals alone. The addition of BruceBIR.GMR has no effect on the cell death phenotype in the eye seen in rprGMR.PH animals alone.

Co-expression of NcC318S.GMR suppresses the rprGMR.PH small eye phenotype.

The eye phenotype of flies expressing rprGMR.PH is enhanced by one copy of Psn+14.Scer\UAS or Psn-14.Scer\UAS expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, weakly enhanced by one copy of PsnM146V.Scer\UAS or PsnN141I.Scer\UAS expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF and unaffected by one copy of PsnL235P.Scer\UAS, PsnE280A.Scer\UAS, PsnD-ALG3.Scer\UAS, Psn+14.loop.Scer\UAS or Psn-14.loop.Scer\UAS expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
