Mutant females have a significant increase in the number of degenerating egg chambers during mid-oogenesis compared to wild type.

(Nezis et al., 2010)

Well-fed Bruce^E16 mutant flies display increased levels of autophagy (punctate Lysotracker staining) in region two of the germarium and in stage eight degenerating egg chambers compared to controls.

In contrast to wild type, the ovaries of well-fed Bruce^E16 mutant flies contain a large number of degenerating stage eight egg chambers.

An increased number of apoptotic (TUNEL positive) cells are seen in region two cysts in well-fed Bruce^E16 mutant flies than are seen in wild type.
