Expression of thGMR.PH does not cause retinal degeneration.

Flies expressing thGMR.PH have normal eye morphology.

Normally occurring cell death (35-50hr postpupation) is blocked in eye development, giving rise to extra cells. Also blocks a second wave of normally occurring cell death that takes place between 60 and 70 hrs postpupation.
