Overexpression of DCAF12Scer\UAS.cHa driven by Scer\GAL4da.PU leads to significant reductions in the size of male and female flies. Overexpression of DCAF12Scer\UAS.cHa limits clonal growth in the eyes (smaller clones as survival of mutant cells is decreased). Overexpression of DCAF12Scer\UAS.cHa driven in the developing wing disc by Scer\GAL4ptc.PU significantly reduces wing size between L3 and L4 in the adult and increases apoptosis in the third instar larval wing disc.

Overexpression of DCAF12Scer\UAS.cHa in the developing retina driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU results in strong size reduction and disruption of normal patterning in the adult eye. Scer\GAL4GMR.PU>DCAF12Scer\UAS.cHa flies also show increased sensitivity of the retina to UV irradiation compared to controls: tissue loss in mutant retina in response to UV is much larger than controls.
