Expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU results in a significant decrease in muscle area in dorsoventral sections of the thorax, and increased apoptosis and autophagy in adult muscle, after induction via heat shock, as compared to controls.

Expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in a rough eye phenotype.

mblE27 flies expressing mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 do not undergo larval molting and die as first instar larvae up to three days after hatching.

Overexpression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev generates a moderately rough eye phenotype.

Targeted expression of mblC.Scer\UAS to the posterior wing compartment by Scer\GAL4e22c generates vein fusions and a lack of intervein material, affecting specially L4/5 veins.

Expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 does not result in a reduction in the fraction of embryos that are able to hatch compared to controls.

Expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in a rough eye phenotype. Severe polarity defects are seen and there is loss of photoreceptor cells within ommatidia. Expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL469B results in patches of ectopic vein material and ectopic veins in the wing.

Co-expression of mblC.Scer\UAS partially suppresses the decreased muscle area and increased autophagy, but not the increased apoptosis seen in flies expressing Zzzz\CTGi480.Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU in response to heat shock; but does not rescue the shortened lifespan of flies expressing Zzzz\CTGi480.Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Comments

The embryonic lethality of mblE16/mblE27 animals is partially rescued by expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32; 70.9% of the embryos hatch.

The embryonic lethality of mblE16/mblE27 animals is only slightly rescued by expression of mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR; 9.1% of the embryos hatch.

71.43% of mblE16/mblE27 embryos expressing mblC.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 hatch into larvae (in contrast to 0% of mblE16/mblE27 embryos) and the hypercontracted abdomen phenotype is greatly reduced.
