Expression of ciScer\UAS.cHb under the control of Scer\GAL4ci.PC gives a variable phenotype depending on the insertion of the driver. The P{ci-GAL4.C}2 insertion produces a wild-type phenotype whereas the P{ci-GAL4.C}3 insertion sometimes produces a gain of function phenotype in which embryonic denticle belts are deleted and replaced with naked cuticle.
When driven by Scer\GAL4c591 ocelli increase in size and fuse. This phenotype is weaker than that seen when ciZn:C.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4c591.
Scer\GAL4ci.PC/ciUAS.cHb partially rescues ci94
Expression of ciScer\UAS.cHb under the control of ciScer\UAS.cHb completely rescues the cuticle phenotype of ci94 embryos. Rescued embryos develop into adults that have normal morphology but are sterile.
