Detailed Description

Unlike wild-type, post stage 15 trachea in Nrx-IV14 homozygotes are unable to exclude from their lumens, a fluorescently labelled 10kDa dextran injected into the body cavity. This is consistent with these trachea lacking a functioning septate junction barrier.

Transheterozygotes with Df(3L)vin8 or Df(3L)BK9 are lethal, rare adults escapers are occasionally obtained. Transheterozygotes with Nrx-IV319, Nrx-IV575, Nrx-IV711 and Nrx-IV2511 allow rare adult escapers, adults exhibit rough eyes, notched wings, broadened veins and duplication and malformations of the legs.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

cora1/cora2 or cora2/cora2 mutant embryos have an effective diffusion barrier in the embryonic salivary glands that is disrupted when Nrx-IV14/+ is present.
