    Embryos show defects in paracellular barrier function in the trachea in a dextran injection assay.

    cora1 homozygous mutants have an effective paracellular diffusion barrier in the embryonic salivary gland.

    Homozygous embryos have a faint cuticle and a dorsal scab. The remains of the salivary glands are present as necrotic material. No adult escapers are produced.

    Abnormality in dorsal closure, leaving a small scab on the dorsal side.
