Animals expressing Hsc70-4D206S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4337Y die as first or second instar larvae. Animals expressing Hsc70-4D206S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B generally die as embryos or first instar larvae. Animals expressing Hsc70-4D206S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B that die as embryos are unable to puncture the egg membrane and hatch and those larvae that do hatch are unable to crawl. Embryos expressing Hsc70-4D206S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B have a range of severe muscle pattern defects, including gaps in the muscle pattern indicating loss of muscle fibres and irregularities in the muscle pattern. The majority of newly hatched or 2 day old larvae expressing Hsc70-4D206S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4156Y are unable to locate a yeast paste food source within 20 minutes in a behavioural assay.
