Homozygotes display a modest broadening of existing veins and the formation of extra veins in the wing.

Homozygous third instar larvae show a slight reduction in bouton number per muscle area at the neuromuscular junction compared to wild type.

Dadj1E4/Dad271-68 larvae show an increase in both the total number of boutons and the number of satellite boutons at the neuromuscular junction compared to wild type.

Dad271-68 does not protect Df(1)su(s)R194/+ clones in the eye; Df(1)su(s)R194/+ ; Dad271-68 clones are not recovered in the adult eye in animals with mosaic eyes containing two genotypes of cells with respect to RpL36; cells which are Df(1)su(s)R194/+ and cells in which the haplo-insufficiency of Df(1)su(s)R194/+ for RpL36 has been rescued by RpL36+t4 (in a wild-type background the Df(1)su(s)R194/+ clones are eliminated by cell competition and are not seen in the adult eye in these animals).

Homozygous and Dad271-68/Dadj1E4 larvae show no significant change in the number of synaptic boutons at the neuromuscular junction.

Homozygous larvae have synapses with dramatically altered morphology at the neuromuscular junction. There are increased numbers of distinct, small boutons that sprout from what appear to be the normal synaptic process. This phenotype is highly penetrant and is observed at muscles 6/7 and muscle 4. The number of boutons is significantly increased compared to wild type.

Clonal analysis in the germarium reveals that mutant stem cells are not lost. No turnover was detected even after three weeks, suggesting prologued stem cell life. Stem cell division rate relative to control is 0.84. Cysts contain the normal 16 cells, including and oocyte.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The aberrant wing vein phenotype seen in DdG0269/Y animals is enhanced by Dad271-68/+.

The reduction in bouton number per muscle area at the neuromuscular junction that is seen in Smn73Ao/Smnf01109 third instar larvae is suppressed by Dad271-68/Dad271-68.
