Homozygous clones in the wing produce wing blisters. Blisters are associated with both dorsal and ventral clones. Vesicles of wing epithelial cells are found between the two surfaces of the wing in both vein and intervein regions. The cells within the vesicle have secreted cuticle, contain trichomes and can conists of either darkly pigmented cells (like vein cells) or unpigmented cells (like intervein cells). Some of the vesicles appear to induce ectopic vein outgrowths from nearby wild-type veins. The clones also produce distortions in the shape of the wing. blo1/bloV99 flies have a distorted wing shape, with an elongation of the distal anterior region and a truncation of the most distal region.
Selected as: Mutation that produces wing blister in homozygous clones.
