Mutants have a blistered wing phenotype.
33.7 +/- 2.5% of if3/Y flies have wing blisters.
At 22[o]C, mutant males show no defects in rotation of the genitalia.
17% of hemizygous males show wing blistering.
28% of if3/Y flies have blistered wings.
if3/Y flies have a low frequency of wing blisters (=<10%).
Hemizygotes exhibit a large centrally positioned bubble in one or both wings.
48% of hemizygous males have wing blisters at 25oC, 4% have wing blisters at 28oC.
33 to 66% of homozygotes show wing blistering.
if3/if3 flies show reduced levels of PS2 integrin on the surfaces of some imaginal disc cells (especially in the ventral region), but levels of this integrin in muscle, salivary glands and most other tissues seem to be normal. Penetrance is reduced in if3/ifk27e flies by low temperature and crowding.
Small blisters on the wing surface, centered on the anterior crossvein. Heterozygotes with ifk27e exhibit a much higher frequency of blistering.
Resembles if1. Longitudinal veins thickened, especially at wing base. Anterior crossvein thickened. Adult wings typically show large round wing blisters, but the penetrance of this phenotype in homo- and hemizygotes is variable. if3/ifk27e flies show an increase in penetrance (from 15-20% in homozygotes to 60-70% in the heteroalleles).

if3 is an enhancer of egg | maternal effect phenotype of Tsp66E2
if3 enhances the short-egg phenotype seen in eggs laid by Tsp66E2 females.
The penetrance of the if3 wing blister phenotype is enhanced if the flies also carry Tsp66E2/Tsp66E2 Tsp74F1.
Expression of Tsp66EScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 dramatically reduces the if3 wing blister phenotype.
The addition of crol04418, crol06470 or crolk08217 enhances the wing blistering phenotype of if3/Y flies by 3-4 fold in the case of crol04418 and crol06470 and about 7 fold in the case of crolk08217. The addition of crol3ex5 enhances the wing blistering phenotype of if3/Y flies by about two-fold. This is significantly less than the enhancement seen by crolk08217. The addition of EcRC300Y or EcRM554fs enhances the wing blistering phenotype of if3/Y flies by about five or nine-fold respectively.
The frequency of wing blisters in if3 hemizygotes is dominantly enhanced by bsV100, bsV121, puriV4, puriV15, howT1, howT90, cassE48, bloV134 or moaV50. The frequency of wing blisters in if3 hemizygotes is not dominantly enhanced by pygE16, pygE50, shotV104, shotV167, takV27, takV42, aukV106, aukV162, cassE44, bloV99 or moaV88. The frequency of wing blisters seen in if3/ifB4 flies is not dominantly enhanced by potP3.
Double mutants with mys8 have wing blister phenotype.
Double hemizygous and homozygous mutants with mys8 display an extreme wing phenotype, wings are folded and unexpanded, veins and aberrant crossveins can be seen.
Expression of Hsap\CD82Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 dramatically reduces the if3 wing blister phenotype.
