UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of sty, tagged after residue 577 with three copies of Tag:HA. A stop codon introduced after the last residue of the Tag:HA tag eliminates the last 13 residues of sty.

Flies expressing styScer\UAS.C.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev have extremely rough eyes. There is a reduction in the number of photoreceptor, cone and pigment cells. Initial recruitment of photoreceptor cells is normal in eye discs in which styScer\UAS.C.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, but never proceeds beyond the three- or five-cell stage. Flies expressing styScer\UAS.C.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 show a reduction in wing size of about 50% and a substantial loss of wing veins.
