G to A nucleotide change at the second or third position of the wild type Trp codon leads to a nonsense mutation (exact site of mutation unspecified). The mutation was annotated at the second base of the codon.
mgeB10 mutants do not display a wing phenotype.
Homozygous, mgeA1/mgeB10, mgeB10/Df(3L)449 and mgeB10/Df(3L)GN19 animals proceed through embryogenesis and hatch on schedule. However, the larvae do not grow but remain as first instars for 5-9 days (the normal first instar period is 24 hours). No gross morphological defects are seen, but mutant larvae appear to move more slowly than wild type.

A mgeB10 heterozygous background partially suppresses the wing phenotypes found upon expression of Mmus\BaxScer\UAS.cGa in the wing under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM. A shift in phenotype distribution from about 60% of strong and about 40% of intermediate phenotypes in the control cross to 30% of strong and about 70% of intermediate phenotypes in these double mutants.
