The LL1 muscle forms normally in Scer\GAL4twi.PB, knScer\UAS.cVa embryos. However, the DA2 muscle adopts a DA3 or intermediate DA3/DA2 morphology in 28% and 26% of segments, respectively, in these embryos.

Expression of knScer\UAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4kn-col85-GAL4 during lymph gland development results in an overproduction of posterior signaling center cells.

Expression of knScer\UAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4dome-PG125 results in an almost complete absence of haemocyte differentiation in the third larval instar lymph gland.

knScer\UAS.cVa, Scer\GAL4srp.D.cCa animals are viable when allowed to develop to the second instar larval stage at 18oC before shifting to 25oC. In a fraction of these larvae lamellocytes can be seen, a concomitant reduction in crystal cells is also seen. Around 5% of larvae develop melanotic tumours. No production of lamellocytes is seen when knScer\UAS.cVa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 or Scer\GAL4Hml.PG.

When driven by a variety of Scer\GAL4 drivers (Scer\GAL4en-e16E, Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1, Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 or Scer\GAL4ap-md544) no detectable wing phenotype is seen.

Co-expression of knScer\UAS.cVa and nauScer\UAS.cKa using Scer\GAL4how-24B results in an ectopic DA3 muscle in thoracic segment 1 with very few nuclei (2-3).

When knScer\UAS.cVa is driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E in a ciD background, the truncation of L4 is stronger than seen in ciD alone and L5 is partly missing. Overexpression of ptcScer\UAS.cJa driven by either Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 or Scer\GAL4en-e16E, causes the partial loss of L3-L4 intervein. This phenotype cannot be rescued by Scer\GAL4 driven expression of knScer\UAS.cVa. Expression of ci76.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 causes the partial loss of L3-L4 intervein. This phenotype cannot be rescued by Scer\GAL4 driven expression of knScer\UAS.cVa.
