FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
When a maternal supply of dup is depleted, replication fails mutant embryos and cells accumulate in mitosis. Chromosomes also make oscillatory movements between the poles. Chromosomes are scattered along the spindle, with some clustering in a central pseudometaphase plate, despite the presence of only a single kinetochore. Merotelic attachments are seen: kinetochore fibres from both poles are seen to impinge on single kinetochores.
Mutant embryos fail to enter S phase 16, but do go on to enter mitosis 16.

In dupunspecified, CycAunspecified double mutant embryos, the great majority of epidermal cells fail to enter mitosis 16.
