Description

The P{lacW} insertion from skd1 has undergone an incomplete excision deleting the entire coding portion of exon 1 (amino acids 1-23). Part of the original transposon remains at the insertion site.

Detailed Description

The average number of crystal cells per embryo is reduced in homozygous stage 13-14 embryos compared to wild type.

Homozygous somatic clones induced in the distal second tarsal segment differentiate as ectopic sex comb teeth. This effect appears to be cell autonomous. Clones elsewhere in the T1 leg or at any position in the T2 OR T3 legs are without effect. Homozygous clones in the maxillary palps are associated with malformations. Homozygous clones in the wing blade, the notum, or the antennae lead to apparently normal patterns. Twin spot studies in the larval imaginal wing disc show no apparent affect on size and distribution of homozygous mutant clones.

The addition of skdpap-53 enhances the ectopic distal sex comb phenotype seen in pbhs.PB animals. The addition of Scr4 to pbhs.PB, skdpap-53 flies also suppresses the distal sex comb phenotype. MED17s2956, ScrP, skdpap-53 flies exhibit a stronger ectopic distal sex comb phenotype than any of the double mutant combinations.
