Expression of grp^EP587 under the control of Scer\GAL4^sca-537.4 results in potential shaft-to-socket transformations on the abdomen. Sensory organs with one socket and no shaft and no socket and one shaft are seen. Loss of external support cells of several scutellar and dorsocentral macrochaetae without loss of the sheath cell is seen.
