      The original "l(2)04012" strain may contain a deletion which could account for the lethality of the strain; a 137bp fragment of sequences flanking the insertion in the "l(2)04012" strain match sequence in 44D1--44D2. The insertion in the "l(2)04012" strain (1360{P{PZ}}prom04012b) is separable from the lethality (l(2)04012a04012a); when the insertion is recombined from the original chromosome onto a wild-type background it is homozygous viable.
