Adult flies carrying CSN4null mutant clones in the wings display extra wing veins.
Homozygous clones in the thorax result in hair cell duplication phenotypes.
Homozygous third instar larvae are much smaller than their control siblings. Homozygous larvae show moulting defects; the second instar mouth parts fail to detach from the newly formed third instar mouth hooks, giving a double mouth hook phenotype. Some of these larvae also show defects in ecdysis as the shed second instar cuticle also remains attached at the head. These defects are seen in about 20% of mutant second to third instar larvae. Embryos are not recovered from females containing homozygous germline clones. Oogenesis is arrested at stage 6 in these females. Homozygous larvae are sensitive to methyl methanesulfonate compared to controls.
