Mutant germ cells in male germline clones do not differentiate into spermatocytes but instead produce large clusters of cells that resemble early germ cells. The cells within the clones are a mixed population that resemble stem cells, gonialblasts and spermatogonia. 60% of mutant germ line clones are not associated with the heterozygous somatic cyst cells.
