Sap-r^e01294/Df(3R)tll-e and Sap-r^C27/Sap-r^e01294 flies exhibit a significantly reduced lifespan, as compared to wild type. Sap-r^e01294/Df(3R)tll-e and Sap-r^C27/Sap-r^e01294 flies also show progressive neurodegeneration, as evidenced by severe progressive vacuolization of antennal lobes, eye, and optic lobes, in contrast to wild type or Sap-r^C27/+ controls.
