Imprecise excision of the P{PTT-GB} element, resulting in a 357bp deletion in the first LamC exon. 2 insertions appear to be present (Avic\GFP sequences from the P{PTT-GB} element are detected but functional w[+] sequences are not present). The lesion is located within both the LamC and ttv transcription units (since LamC is nested within an intron of ttv). However, only LamC function is affected by the lesion, since the "EX187" chromosome complements ttv00681b and fails to complement LamCEP2199.

Many homozygotes raised on sterilised corn-meal medium at 24[o]C and places on sterilised 20% agar plates at the pre-pupal stage can survive to the late pupal stage. Adult body formation is seen within the pupal cases, but none complete head eversion and no adults eclose.
LamCEX187 is early larval lethal when homozygous and late larval lethal or early pupal lethal when hemizygous with Df(2R)trix.
Heterozygous LamCEX187 suppresses the position effect variegation of P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-72.
Heterozygous LamCEX187 suppresses the position effect variegation of T(2;3)SbV.
LamCEX187 mutant larval salivary gland nuclei show clustering of the nuclear pores. 15% of larval imaginal disc nuclei show separation of the inner and outer nuclear membranes and large perforations in the nuclear envelope resulting in chromatin leakage. The larval body wall muscles show abnormally shaped nuclei.
In(1)wm4h, LamCEX187, Su(var)2055/Su(var)205[+] has suppressor of variegation | dominant phenotype
In(1)wm4h; Su(var)2055/LamCEX187 flies have nearly normal red eye colour with little evidence of variegation.
