Imprecise excision of the insertion in lazaEY04417 resulting in a 703bp deletion that removes the presumed start codon and sequences encoding the first 28 amino acids of the encoded protein.
laza22 photoreceptors show normal ultrastructure on eclosion. However, when laza22 flies are raised in bright light, the mutant photoreceptors undergo progressive vesiculation and degeneration of the rhabdomeres which is quite severe by 5 days after eclosion. This degeneration is not seen if the laza22 flies are raised in dim light.
laza22 is a suppressor of abnormal neurophysiology phenotype of rdgA3
laza22/laza22 is a suppressor | partially of retina | adult stage | progressive | conditional phenotype of Pld3.1
laza22/laza22 is a suppressor | partially of ommatidium | adult stage | progressive | conditional phenotype of Pld3.1
laza22/laza22 is a suppressor of eye photoreceptor cell phenotype of rdgA3
laza[+]/laza22 is a suppressor of eye photoreceptor cell phenotype of rdgA3
laza22 is a suppressor of eye photoreceptor cell phenotype of rdgB9
rdgA3 ; laza22 double mutant adults show photoreceptor degeneration in dim light, with the rate of degeneration being similar to that seen in rdgA3 single mutants. When flies are raised in bright light, the rate of photoreceptor degeneration in rdgA3 ; laza22/laza22 double mutants is greatly reduced compared to that seen in rdgA3 single mutants. The rate of photoreceptor degeneration in rdgA3 ; laza22/+ flies in bright light is intermediate between that of rdgA3 ; laza22/laza22 and rdgA3 flies.
The decreased rate of deactivation of the light response that is seen in the electroretinogram response of rdgA3 flies following a 1 second stimulus of light is substantially rescued by laza22.
laza22 slows the rate of photoreceptor degeneration seen in rdgB9 flies.
laza22 is rescued by Scer\GAL4ninaE.PT/lazaUAS.GFP
